HSA to increase Farm Inspections

The Health and Safety Authority have announced that due to a significant increase in farm related fatalities in 2008 (21 compared to 11 in 2007) they will be increasing their number of Safety Inspections on Farms this year.

The Health and Safety Authority also issued a “Farm Safety Action Plan 2009 – 2012″ in December 2008. This plan has been prepared in conjunction with a number of Partnership Bodies related to the Farming Community and aims to improve health and safety on every farm over the coming years.

Every Farm must have a Safety Statement or where there are 3 or less workers, comply with the Agriculture Code of Practice.
