The Health and Safety Authority have classed the pandemic as a Public Health issue however it does have an effect on the workplace for example Employees being struck down with the virus and increasing sick leave absences and the resulting emergency staff cover requirements.
The best way to try and deal with the pandemic is to exercise good personal hygiene techniques in the workplace such as using a tissue to cover sneezes and disposing of the tissues, washing hands frequently such as before handling food or eating and drinking.
Employers should ideally have a contingency plan in place and implement it should their Employees become ill.
