IOSH NW District FREE Evening Seminar on Radon Protection

Date: Wednesday 20th January 2010

Registration Tea & Coffee: 6.30 pm

Seminar: 7 – 9 pm

Venue: The Mount Errigal Hotel, Ramelton Rd, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal

Main Speaker: Ger Lally BE MIEI, Managing Director, The Radon Centre, Wexford

The risk to employees from exposure to Radon gas is a mystery to many employers. Those who have heard of Radon tend to know little about it. Ireland is the sixth worst-affected country in the World, and exposure to Radon is the second highest cause of lung cancer in Ireland. The Northwest contains many high-risk areas, as does the South-East where The Radon Centre is based.

Employers have a clear legal duty to reduce the risk of Radon exposure to their employees and this is an opportunity to learn how to achieve this.

The seminar will cover the following topics:

What is Radon? Hazards associated with Radon. Legislation & Standards. Radon in Ireland.

How does radon get into buildings? Testing for radon. Remediation methods for reducing radon.

The seminar will include an extensive question and answers section, so if you have any questions regarding Radon, please bring them along.

Booking is necessary
