What is a Hazard?

A hazard is anything that has the potential to cause harm. Hazards exist throughout every workplace. It is important to be able to identify them and implement good control measures to avoid the risk of injury they pose or reduce the risk so far as is reasonably practicable.

Hazards can be broken down into 6 different main groups.

1. Mechanical

2. Physical

3. Chemical

4. Biological

5. Environmental

6. Organisational
